How I Use AI on My Longevity Journey
Or: Why I Talk to Robots About Olive Oil and Blood Pressure
Let’s get one thing straight from the beginning: I’m not a scientist. I’m not a doctor. I’m not a nutritionist. I’m a baby boomer, born in the 1960’s with a white beard, a blood pressure cuff, and an internet connection—and I’m curious. Very curious.
And that’s exactly where AI comes in.
Why I Use AI
I’m trying to live longer—and better. That means asking questions like:
Does extra virgin olive oil actually lower blood pressure, or is that just Mediterranean folklore?
What does current science say about cocoa and nitric oxide?
Is fasting good for baby boomers, or do we just get cranky?
To get answers, I use AI as my research partner. Not to give me medical advice, but to help me:
✅ Find and summarize studies that would otherwise take me hours to locate and translate.
✅ Connect the dots between my personal experiences (like a BP drop after two weeks of EVOO) and peer-reviewed research.
✅ Spot patterns in my own self-tracking data.
✅ Translate scientific jargon into something a curious retiree can actually digest—ideally while sipping espresso.
What Kind of AI?
I mainly use ChatGPT, Perplexity and Grok along with some data tools and content helpers behind the scenes. Nothing fancy, no secret lab—just public AI tools used thoughtfully, with a strong dose of skepticism and humor.
Is This Blog Written by AI?
Nope.
But AI helps shape it. Every article on La Longevità is written by me, in my voice, based on my actual experiences. But behind the scenes, I often ask AI to help me understand things, generate ideas, or check if I’m talking nonsense (it happens).
Think of it like this:
I write the melody. AI helps with the chords.
Is AI Always Right?
Ha! Absolutely not.
Sometimes it hallucinates. Sometimes it quotes studies that don’t exist. That’s why I treat it like a smart intern—useful, fast, but always double-checked. If I link to studies or data, I do my best to verify the source.
So, Is This “Science”?
Let’s call it science-adjacent.
This blog is not peer-reviewed, but it is AI-reviewed. It’s a mix of personal anecdote, curiosity, data, and AI-powered insight. I hope it inspires you to explore your own health—and ask better questions, not just copy my answers.
Final Word
AI helps me ask better questions, eat more thoughtfully, and write with a bit more clarity than I could on my own. Without AI, I’m not sure La Longevità would exist.
With it, I feel like I have a curious companion who never sleeps, never eats my olives, and always answers—instantly.
If that’s not longevity magic, what is?
